Family Pictures--A SUCCESS!

This morning, we had the second session for our pictures.
Daddy was back in town after being gone to Germany and Korea for 8 days.  We were going to go downtown, but it was a little hazy and very hot.  We packed some water bottles and after taking a few pictures in our yard, headed out in the neighborhood.  Our photographer was a high school senior neighbor, and he was very patient with our hot, silly, most of the time cooperative kiddos!

Hannah asked me this morning why we had to take pictures.  I told her so when she was older I would have something to remember when she was 8 years old.

Life is Good when you have pictures to remember the past---and present!

Hari Raya Cultural Day

On Friday, the girls' school had their Hari Raya Cultural Day.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims. Hari Raya literally means ‘celebration day’, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the day that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of dawn-to-sunset fasting.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri is considered one of the two most important celebrations for Muslims, the other being Hari Raya Haji – the festival of Abraham’s sacrifice.
Hari Raya is one of the biggest holidays in Malaysia.  They gather with friends and family similar to what our family does for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The common area of the school was set up with stations for the students.

 Kaylee and her buddy, Evelyn.
We missed Macy at the stations, but caught up with her at snack time.
Rice pouch made of coconut leaves.

After the stations, there was a whole school assembly with music and dancing.

My Little Designers

Last weekend, I let the girls help design a dress for themselves.  I picked out the fabric that would make up the main panel of the dress.  I set out 8 other coordinating fabrics and they(except Whitney) got to pick out which fabric would be for the 2 ruffles on the bottom, the bodice and the straps.
Today, one of our neighbors took some pictures of them in their new designs.  This session was just with the 4 girls.  Next weekend, we are going to go downtown to get some more shots of them and all 6 of us.

They lined up on their own like this to watch tennis practice!!

Really wish K was looking right at the camera on this one!!!!

Hopefully next weekend we can get one when all 4 are looking at the camera---a near impossible mission!!!!

She had a cupcake last night for dinner without a candle.

Needs a little help with her fingers!

Sewing Again!

While the BIGS have been off at school, I have been busy sewing.
I brought quite a bit of fabric back with me and I can't wait to turn it all into something pretty.

These shown are all size 3, but I plan to make each color combo in size 6-12 months up to size 7.
Some of the dresses are paired with super cute bows.....My neighbor and I want to add our craftiness together and participate in some craft fairs in Malaysia.

I would also like to make this style of skirt in each color combo......
I don't think my fabric stash will last too long.  Thankfully, Justin is headed back to the US in November and can stock up for me!!!!
