Penang Here We Come!!!!

On Thursday after school and swimming lessons, we headed out for our 2nd Malaysian road trip to Penang.  The girls had a holiday on Friday for Wesak Day, a Buddhist celebration.
The scenery was beautiful and the girls did pretty well on the car ride.  We only had one potty stop and snacked rather than stop for dinner.

The girls fell asleep in the car, and were ready for room service and a little TV when we got there.
We had 2 identical adjoining rooms.....The 3 Bigs in one and Whit with us.  We could have easily all stayed in one, but in Asia they don't really allow you to cram as many people as you can in one room!
After a little midnight snack(10:00 dinner), the Bigs were ready to call it a night!

 This one was wide awake,
didn't want to watch TV
and was going to dress herself in her jammies!

Since she refused to listen to me about putting the pj top on as a shirt, she grabbed her dirty shirt off the floor and tried it.
 "Done"!!!!!
Life is Good with an eventful car ride to your weekend getaway and a fun first night in the hotel.

Almost 8!

Yesterday, May 22nd I went to Hannah's school to celebrate her birthday.  Hard to believe that 8 years ago, I was waiting for her to arrive on her due date.....So much has happened to our family in the 8 years since.

After lunch I went to recess with her....
..I took a turn with the jump rope, but Hannah was much better than me:

Justin got back in town from a trip to Vietnam so we went on a Mommy/Daddy/Hannah date.
We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant....La Mexicana.

As soon as we walked in, they asked where the others girls were.
Hannah was very excited to share that it was her 8th birthday!!!

It was a fun day all about Hannah.  The girls have Friday off of school, so we are headed north to the city of Penang.  It should be a fun weekend of exploring, swimming and turning 8.

Macy's Favorite Shirt

Macy has a new favorite shirt.
Unfortunately it is Hannah's......So she needs to wait until Hannah is at school to put it on.

Here is the outfit she came up with today:

I had to do a quick check that she had shorts on!!!
Now, I just need to convince her to change before Hannah gets off the bus this afternoon and everything will be just fine!!!

Life is Good when you can borrow from your sisters!

Practicing for the Terrible 2s

Lately, Whitney has been on a naughty streak......Literally a streak--she keeps taking her diaper off!!!

Today, Macy went in to get her after her nap and said, "Mom, she doesn't have any pants or her diaper on!!!"  Luckily, everything was dry.  Tonight after bath, I let her run around naked while I ran down to get her jammies.  She peed.....while I was cleaning that up......She pooped.  This has been the first time I have really appreciated not having carpet!  Her sisters thought it was hilarious, and it wasn't too bad a clean up session.
She has also been climbing onto the kitchen table and throwing anything left on it.....plates, full glasses of milk, food.  We no longer have a rug under the table---we kept finding crusty patches of dried food and milk.
The WORST habit is throwing things in the pool......It wouldn't be so bad if she was just throwing the toys in for her sisters to dive for......
.......So far we have lost a JAMBOX speaker and iPhone!!!!!  The last week was kind of expensive around here!!!!
When we try to tell her NO or put her in timeout she puts her head down and acts really quiet...Then, she looks up at you without moving her head.  We have to look away because it is so funny.

As much of a stinker as she has been lately, she is still pretty cute!!!!!
Life is good and crazy with Whitney Grace!!!

Music and Art.....and a Little Driving

Tonight, Hannah had her choir concert.
This semester on Thursdays she has been staying after school for an hour to practice.
They performed 2 songs and her favorite was 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton.
Before the concert, we were able to walk through the art exhibition in the halls.
Each student had at least 2 pieces on display.

The girls had a great time searching for their artwork......All  the time and effort the teachers put in to displaying them was great.  Seeing all the different types of projects and materials used was very impressive.

I also had a first tonight since moving to Malaysia 4 months ago.....I DROVE!!!!!

Since moving, I have only driven through the neighborhood once to try out driving on the left side.  Justin was gone tonight, and I thought it would be silly to ask the driver to come back.  I was a little nervous about it all day.  I knew I wouldn't get lost since I have been to the school many times...Macy didn't believe me that I didn't need a piece of paper with the directions written down.
Kaylee was a little unsure when I couldn't get the car started.  In the Volkswagen Sharan minivan we have you don't turn a key.....When the key is somewhere in the car, you push a button...press the brake and push the button again.  It took me a few tries to get the steps done right.
Traffic wasn't too bad and the motorbikes didn't scare me too much....The girls thought they needed to point out everyone that was coming by us.
My use of the brakes was not too smooth, and I did drive home with just the parking lights and not the head lights on.  All in all, I think I did okay.....Not ready to give up the driver for the day to day driving, but now I think I could go to the grocery store by myself if I needed to!

Life is Good with the Arts and the ability to drive.

The Wii is Back

Over the weekend, we finally got the Wii hooked back up.  Lately, our night routine has been dinner, bath/showers, watch Hole in the Wall, watch Doc McStuffins and head to bed.  The girls have gotten a little tired of it, so it will be nice they can do something different at night......and during the DAILY rain shower or storm we get.
They've had a few Just Dance parties, but their favorite is Mario Brothers!

Can you guess which half of the crew is really glad the Wii is back?!?!?!!

Life is Good when you can play games at night.

Act 1: Hoop Diving

An unsuccessful attempt of pushing Justin in the pool,
ended with a fun night swimming with our clothes on for the 6 of us.

The girls have discovered the fun of a hula hoop in the pool.......
(We have also tied weights to them and they swim through them under the water.)

Before too long, we will have a whole circus ready to take on the road starring our 4 clowns!

The girls loved swimming without suits so much that Justin, Whitney and I were able to sit and eat dinner while they swam..............It was a nice quiet meal of Kung Pao Chicken!!!
