Dressing Up

Over the last few weeks, there have been a few events that require us to dress up.

Justin and the BIGS went to a Girl Scout outing to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra to see Carmen and out to Chili's for dinner.

 It was the 100th Day at school. 

 They wore shirt with numbers, and Grade 2 had a hat parade.

The Quiz Night Fundraiser was probably the most fun to get dressed up for and attend!!!!  

Friday, was Chinese New Year day at school.  I love how the girls are getting introduced to so many different cultures while living in Malaysia.

One thing Malaysia has introduced us to that we could do without is RATS!!!!  We have seen them out a few times at night when walking around.  Last week, we had a few(maybe 4) around our house at night.  We saw evidence in dropping in our kitchen....GROSS!!!!!  We set traps, put out poison and called pest control.   A few days after the first incident,  Whitney came down with a high fever.  I took her to the doctor, got antibiotics and was told to come back on Wednesday if the fever was still around.  Wednesday took her back and they did blood tests.....

Cute as she was in her gymnastics outfit, she did not enjoy the blood tests!  It came back positive for leptospirosis....a bacteria causing flu-like symptoms that is passed from animal to human....commonly by means of rat urine.....GROSS!!!!  I only knew to ask about this because we have had 2 friends who recently have been diagnosed with it.  

After giving her an antibiotic suppository(something else she wasn't too fond of) they admitted us into  a room...with a nice view of the towers.  She spent the night at the hospital, and once the fever went away it did not return this time.  We were told that sometimes the blood test will give a false positive result.  I am guessing Whitney had a false positive test, or a very mild case since her fever did not persist too long after antibiotics .  She is back to her feisty self and seems to be just fine! 

 On another positive note: No more evidence of rats have been found!
