A Full Day of Exploring the Cape

Our South African trip had 4 main themes:
1.  The early bird catches the worm.
We were up every morning between 4:30 and 6:30am....either to travel or sight see.  This is probably why 3 of the girls are still sleeping at 11:00am on our first morning back(Easter Sunday)!
2.  Beautiful sightseeing....whether it was the wonderful varied landscape of the country of the animals we spotted on safari
3.  Many, Many, MANY miles of travel....airplane, car or safari jeep
4.  Spending time with family and friends

Our first full day we were up at 6:30 so we could drive an hour and a half to Cape Point National Park and the Cape of Good Hope.
First stop, the visitor's center for a little hands on learning......
 .......to stretch our legs

.......and get snacks.  The girls loved that they could find salt and vinegar chips at most stops our entire trip.
We chose the easy route to the top....riding in the Flying Dutchmen Funicular.

I'm glad we got there when we did because the fog/clouds started to come in while we were there.  The top picture was only taken about a half hour after the bottom picture and you can't even see the beautiful view.

Pretending to be penguins.....stopping to see the African Penguins was on our list for the day and they were preparing!

Driving to the to the Cape of Good Hope

All day long, Whitney wanted to swim and she wouldn't believe us it was cold.  Until she felt if for herself!

Too windy for a good pic outside, so we cozied up to this fella.
Back into our fancy ride for the week.  Luckily, Tim and Justin were a great navigator/driver duo.

Our plan was to get to the winery by 1 so we could enjoy the family fun festival.  We didn't get there until just before 3 when the vendors were packing up.
However, there was still about an hour to taste and buy wine!

By 4:30, we were ready to head back to the hotel and wash up for dinner.

Life is Good with busy vacation days.
