Today, a friend and I went to the Batu Caves.......
Batu Caves, is a limestone hill, which has a series of caves and cave temples, in the Gombak district, 13 kilometres (8 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village.
The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusamin Malaysia.
42.7 m high golden statue of Lord Murugan.
It wasn't the 272 steps I was dreading, it was the amount of monkeys on them!!!!
I wish I had done more research on Hinduism before we went.
The statues were beautiful, but I wasn't sure of their importance.
The details in the art and in the nature were amazing!
While walking through the caves you almost forget you are still in the city.
Life is Good when learning about other religions---next week...
