Plan B---Pewter

We are back in KL, but there was no sleeping in this morning....We headed to the wet market with G and G at 7 this morning.
Hannah's Brownie Troop from Indiana sent her a "Flat Savannah" so she came along too!

Hannah didn't want to stay in this area too long...She said it was TMG (Too Much Gross)..I agree!!!

Our plan was to go to KidZania.  When we pulled up, we found out it was the idea of a lot of others too.

Instead, we headed to the Royal Selangor pewter factory.

Over 7,000 pewter cups were used to make this replica of the twin towers.

We couldn't walk through the whole factory, but there were a few desks with main techniques being demonstrated.

Making handles

Smoothing cups and making them shiny.

 More sanding and polishing.
Early currency in Malaysia was solid blocks of tin minted in the shapes of animals such as crocodiles or elephants.  Pieces would be broken off to pay for things.  The early coins were cast in the form of coin trees.    Coins could be broken off as needed.

The girls went to the School of Hard Knocks to make their own pewter project.
It was similar to something they would have done at KidZania.
They started by putting their name on the back of the flat plate.

Then, they used a wooden mallet to give it a curved shape.

After a few noisy minutes they had bowl
Just the right size for Savannah!!!
I thought this wall was neat....After an employ works there for 5 years, they get to put their pewter hand up on the wall.

We HAD to make a stop at the gift shop..We are now the owners of a pewter, air tight tea keeper and a money tree.  Wonder if we take the coins off and plant them more trees will grow in the yard?!?!?!?!
Last stop was to the yummy Cafe for lunch...May need to go back just for that?

Life is Good when Plan B turns out to be just as good as Plan A.
