Day Trip to Melaka

Today, I went on a day trip about 90 miles east of KL to Melaka.

Malacca (MalayMelaka, dubbed "The Historic State" ) is the third smallest Malaysian state. It is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca.
Being right on the water, many countries have wanted to control Melaka in the past.

To see the most of the city and learn the history we took a trishaw.  For an hour we rode around on this very colorful three wheeled bike.  Many where decorated with flowers and the favorite accessory of many of the drivers seemed to be anything with Hello Kitty!  Some had loud music blaring, but our driver was very chatty instead.

Our driver/pedaler had quite the personality and he said this was a VIT…Very Important Tree.

 Fort Santiago

The state crest

The various colours are the colours of the Federation of Malaysia and indicate that the State is part of the Federation. The star and crescent stand for Islam, the religion of the State.

The five keris represent the five famous warrior of old Melaka. Whose names are Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi, Hang Lekir, and Hang Lekiu.

The Malacca tree is the tree from which the State derives its name. The two mousedeer supporting the shield serve to recall the incident involving the mousedeers which led the first ruler of Melaka who was sitting under the Malacca tree to choose the site and found the city.

The State motto reads: 'UNITY IS STRENGTH'

It was a fun day trip and now I know a little more about the history of Malaysia.

Little Stinker

While I was downstairs trying to get the DVD out that Whitney jammed into the player, she was yelling something from upstairs.  When I got up there I found her in Kaylee's room.  She had been saying "homework."

I guess when the Big Sister isn't around to use her desk, the Little one will.

Life is Good when you can get into your sisters things without her knowing!!!

Life is NOT so good when you get the DVD out, but now the machine says "ERROR."  Guess we will have to wait for Daddy to come and look at it.

Still Fits!

Since being home from Australia, Whitney has been sleeping in a big girl bed at night and during naps. We told the girls if everyone could go to bed and sleep well all week, we would do a room swap.
They have done a great job, so today was moving day!!!!

Hannah moved to the office
The office moved to Whitney's room
Whitney moved in with Macy
Kaylee moved into Hannah's old room

Luckily, these 4 rooms are all on the same floor so moving things wasn't too hard…..Except for the desk---2 doors needed to come off to get it to its new home.

We just need to paint 2 rooms---Hannah's and the office(Justin doesn't like the current purple walls)

Whitney found a little treasure today while going through her drawers………..
Her "Little Sis" 0-3 month onesie

She first wore it on August 23, 2011 when she was 5 days old…..

Life is Good when you gain 15 pounds and can still wear your old clothes.
