Tuesdays...Kaylee Days

One of the many things we like about the girls' school is that they offer after school activities.  Each semester a different list of activities comes out, and they can choose what they would like to do for an hour after school each day.  The best part is.......an activity bus brings them home afterward!
This semester, Kaylee decided not to do an activity on Tuesdays, so she comes home an hour earlier than the other girls.  Now Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15 will be Mommy and Kaylee Time....and maybe Whitney too...if she isn't napping!
Today, we made oatmeal raisin cookies(we call them "The 1MT Cookies" because she made them last year in Grade 1).
These are a family favorite, and we make them A LOT....This was the 3rd batch in just a few days.  We made one over the weekend, and needed one for Girl Scouts snacks yesterday.
There are many ingredients, so when we make them all together each girl has a few turns of adding and mixing.

1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup syrup
1/3 cup milk
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups oats
1 1/2 cups raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F(180 degrees C)
Grease cookie trays
Combine oil, syrup, milk, brown sugar, vanilla and beat
Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices
Mix
Fold in oats and raisins
Roll walnut-sized balls and press down on the cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes
Chef K was able to do everything since our littlest buddy slept through the whole thing!
During the baking, she had her after school snack...apple with Nutella and salami....while watching The Food Network!!

They are yummy and healthy!!!!
Next Tuesday, we are doing Rice Krispie treats.
Tomorrow after school, Macy is going to help me make the pumpkin soup I helped her class make last week.  Looking forward to soup for dinner and cookies for dessert!

2nd Day was as Fun as the 1st!

We started Day 2 of the staycation off with some morning bowling.  We tried the night before, but the  mall was packed with people and it was a very long wait for a lane.

Unfortunately, the alley didn't have bumpers and the lightest ball was 8 pounds.

The only one playing well was Daddy!

Until the girls had Daddy help line the ball up and give it a little push in the right direction!

6 was the most I ever got down at once, and I rolled A LOT of gutters!!!!  I did get one spare, but it was right after the 3 year old did....so not that big of a deal!
Lucky for me, Whitney gave up with a bit left in the game......Her sisters took over for her and I was able to end up in 2nd place just ahead of her!!!
Justin ended the game as the big winner......He was the only one who would have received a dollar from my Grandma growing up(she would give us a dollar if we got over a hundred),but he would have only barely gotten his pay out!

Next, it was time for Round 2 of boating.....

Whit would tube if we went really slow!
Every great day on the lake should end with ice cream!!!
We had a great, quick break from reality and enjoyed sometime on the lake!

Happy New Year

Loving the Lake!

After a few weeks of sickness:
 high fever and hospital stay(Whitney),
Strep throat and fever(Amy),
High fever and red eye(Kaylee),
Conjunctivitis of the eye(Justin) we were ready for a weekend of fun.

The girls had Thursday and Friday off from school to celebrate Chinese New Year.  Instead of flying off to somewhere fun, we decided to have a staycation in KL.

We booked a night at the hotel on the lake where we have boated before.

We started off with a lunch where everyone got to order their favorite drink:
Then, it was onto the lake.....

Kaylee is usually a very timid person, but behind a boat she is very adventurous!
The marina is on the left and out hotel is the orange roofed building.

Guess they were nervous I was going to fall on them!!!
One last jump in the water.......

A Morning of Track and Field

Our little Energizer bunny is always taking part in something.
Last weekend, her school participated in a track meet with one other school.  Now that she is 9, she competes against other 4th graders..... and 5th graders too.

Her first event was the 800m.
Justin volunteered to help time, so he had a great place to cheer her on!
She did a great job pacing herself and got 3rd place.
 Next up was the 400m

She was very happy with a 1st place finish!
She also participated in high jump......
......and shot put.  She was hoping to do a bit better in shot put.  She got first last year in the under 9 division.  This year, it weighed a bit more and competing against 5th graders was a bit tougher.

Her next meet in in a few weeks and she is very excited to compete again.
