Just A Little Different

From the view out our 21st floor window, rush hour in KL doesn't seem much different any big city in the US.  Walking around, you can find some small differences.  Malaysia was once a British colony so many British concepts are used .
They drive on the left side of the road.

The metric system is used, so all speed limit signs and distances are listed with km or m.

 Phone numbers are 10 digits
Most signs are written in Malay, but also have pictures.
Dates are listed with the day first, then the month and year.  I almost didn't buy milk yesterday because the expiration was listed as 1/2/13.  I thought it was January 2nd, but was actually February 1st!

Everyone takes their shoes off at the front door.  We will be renting furniture for the first month we have our house.  Shoe rack was listed as something we may need along with beds, couches and tables.
Some time is displayed on the 24 hour system
 Temperature is displayed in Celsius

They use a different voltage for electricity.  Computers can be converted with a small adapter, but most of our other plug in items will not work here.
The currency is Ringgit(RM).  A US dollar is worth 3 ringgit so we have been dividing by 3 a lot!
